Is it okay to bring computer parts and fancy beads jewelry to a US airport?

We're flying from Bangkok to the U.S. in a matter of weeks. I'd like to know if certain items are okay to bring along either as carry-on or check-in: 1) computer parts like motherboard, keyboard and video card; 2) fancy jewelry made from stone, shell, resin and maybe coral.

Do we need to declare computer parts and their value? Do they inspect them regardless of how few or how many we bring? What about a dozen pieces of jewelry (necklaces and bracelets) for personal use? Do we need to declare that also? I would like to hear from those with personal experience in coming to the U.S. from Thailand and other Asian countries. Thanks!

Here's the deal:

(1) You are allowed to bring computer parts and jewelry into the United States in most cases, as long as you follow the basic rules of declaration and presentation of articles for inspection.

(2) Be sure to declare EVERYTHING, even if it's for personal use. And yes, you will have to declare the value of everything. Anything you don't declare can be seized and forfeited to the United States Government, and you're also looking at a $5,000.00 penalty for failure to declare.

(3) U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has the right to inspect anything and everything you bring into the country. If you declare computer parts and jewelry, the chances are VERY GOOD that they will inspect, no matter how many or how few items you have.

(4) Be prepared to answer questions about the computer parts. The CBP officers will want to know why you're bringing them in and what you intend to do with them.

Now that your computer memory has been installed, take some time and dust out your system. Place back the case cover, but do no put up the screws immediately. Reattach the monitor and other accessories, and boot the computer. To test if the computer memory has been installed correctly or not, Go to start, then to Control Panel. Click on system, then under the General tab you will see the option Computer Information. Clicking on this option will display the configuration of the memory installed on your computer. Congratulations! Now your computer will be running much faster than before.
